*Introduction to NeuroMuscular Therapy (NMT) - 32CE hrs
Oct 10-12 and 24 & 25
Instructor: Holly Pinto, BS, LMT, NCTMB
Students will discover the history, the “roots and branches” of NeuroMuscular Therapy and the work of Judith DeLany. In this introduction class students will learn NMT's foundational platform, applications of neuromuscular techniques, the methodology for assessing, treating, and preventing soft tissue injuries and chronic pain. Students will gain precise palpation skills, proper use of tools and elbows in preparation for the application of this work. This class is taught through SWIC.

*Indicates classes taught through Southwestern Illinois College. These seminars consist of two weekends; Fridays 6-10pm and Sat/Sun 9-6pm. Students must have Coordinators approval and register through SWIC at the beginning of each semester to attend NMT classes. Cost for Swic classes is $103.00 per credit hour plus lab fee's – each class is 1.5 credit hours (32 CE hours).

Students will explore the various situations that may arise in the therapeutic relationship between client and practitioner. Through case study, role playing, and self-examination students will develop skills to manage situations regarding boundary issues, personality conflicts, transference, counter-transference, diversity, and appropriate relationships as they relate to the massage profession.
